Description

Built in about 1750 and the oldest home in Pennsylvania remaining on its original site. Constructed on the plan of early Swedish settlers, with the characteristic corner fireplace

Construction
|
Built of hewn, dovetailed logs with mortar chinking. A subsequent, second floor addition was built by Samuel Moon, a local cabinetmaker of good reputation. It and later siding have been removed

Uses
|
Initially a home. In the 1880’s, Mary Williamson, a devout descendant of early settlers, used the structure as a refuge for poor city children.

The two large sycamore trees are said to be ‘bride and groom trees’, planted in honor of the marriage of the earliest occupants.
