Historic Fallsington Day - The Tradition Continues

Historic Fallsington Day's roots stretch back to the founding of our organization. It is a highly anticipated community event that always takes place on the second Saturday in October.  We are honored to continue the tradition of this free, day-long program to visitors from near and far as we have for generations.

Ample and free parking is available at Fallsington Elementary School. That location allows you to stroll down Yardley Avenue to enjoy all the fun, food, crafters, vendors, and entertainment ongoing throughout the day.

Each year we host some of our favorite arts entertainers, so be sure to check out the event listing on Facebook [link] or the schedule posted at Meetinghouse Square so you can experience the lively and engaging acts.  We look forward to having Rising Turtle, a group of Native American dancers, share their rich cultural heritage with us through song and dance.  Tuckers’ Tales Puppet Theatre [link] always delights with the comical antics of Punch & Judy.  The lively songs of Ecoman get our feet tapping while teaching us about the importance of respecting ourselves, others, and Mother Nature.   The incredible acrobatics of the Give-n-Take jugglers [link] will amaze and delight.  Perhaps you might also enjoy watching and trying some dances from centuries past [link].

Be sure to include a visit to the Moon-Williamson Log house, Stagecoach Tavern, and Burges-Lippincott house as part of your sojourn through the historic village.  All museum buildings will be open with history demonstrations hosted both inside and on the surrounding grounds, with a focus on the 18th and 19th century histories of the respective spaces. 

 

Heart-to-Hearth Cookery [link] will be highlighting their knowledge of historic food traditions of the local Native Americans and their colonial counterparts.  Other history interpreters will demonstrate their skill at writing with a quill pen while others invite you to try your hand at historic toys and games.  Also, be sure to ask questions of those showcasing their skill at processing raw wool into yarn or changing the color of cloth and yarn using natural dyes.

Many of our wonderful community partners also participate in the day, highlighting the engaging work they do for the good of the village.  Be sure to stop by the Fallsington Library, Fallsington United Methodist Church, and All Saints Episcopal Church. You can also visit with members of American Legion Post #834 in Meetinghouse Square. [LINKS for each] The PTO of Fallsington Elementary School hosts a variety of engaging activities suited to all ages.  Each of these groups hosts sales and often have delectable food and delicious sweet treats for purchase that help support their good works conducted throughout the year.

So wear your comfortable walking shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather, and join us for a fun day exploring the wonderful crafts, activities, and community organizations of the historic village beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until 4:30 p.m.  We look forward to seeing you then!
