A Revolutionary War Experience in Fallsington: Soldier Lads, Camp Lasses, & the Stinging Lash
Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Visit to experience military and civilian life typical of the Revolutionary War era. Watch as soldiers practice some basic drills and maneuvers on the lawn at the Tavern before they march over to the Moon-Williamson log house to gauge if any Friends might be persuaded to join the ranks or sell food to supplement meager army rations. Learn about the medical practices commonly used at the time. Do you have what it takes to be a soldier or to assist those injured during the battle?
In the afternoon we’ll host two courts martial in the Tavern based on documented trials from the American Revolution. One involves a soldier charged with desertion and the other involves a woman attached to the army who was charged with foul behavior toward an officer. You can help decide the outcomes!
*Guided tours of the 3 historic buildings will be offered on an as-needed basis throughout the day. Please visit the HFI Museum Shop for a tour; a nominal fee is charged for the guided tour. DONATIONS ALWAYS WELCOME!
